Roberta Goods - stores with robotized micro warehouses

Roberta Goods - stores with robotized micro warehouses 16-04-2024
The start-up Smark opened fully automated convenience stores Roberta Goods (Now Bertie Goods, 4 stores) equipped with their robotic technique and smart shelf solutions from Bizerba.

All stores are open 24/7 and offer food and convenience products mainly from the local neighborhood so that the products differ from the assortment in the supermarket.

Via screens customers can choose between 300 articles covering their daily needs, like fresh fruit, vegetables, baked goods and beverages. Moreover, customers can choose from different menus, like a breakfast menu, to get inspired or surprised from the ingredients.

The products selected on the screen get compiled by a modern robotic technique in the automated warehouse within a minute. Fruits, vegetables and pastry are selected by the customers themselves from smart shelves with an intelligent weighing system which detects when products are taken from the shelf.

The permanent digital inventory monitoring helps to continually optimize demand planning and re-stock operations.

Our expert opinion

The store concept combines the customers’ need for convenience as well as the wish to buy more local products. Cooperating with local producers ensures a sustainable supply chain and raises awareness among customers towards local brands and products. As the concept just needs relatively little space, the stores can be sited in attractive urban locations conveniently to reach for the customers.
